In una giornata pressochè ideale per una competizione di atletica leggera (temperatura non alta, seppur con un bel sole, e quasi totale assenza di vento), molti dei runner della società presieduta da Filippo Struppa sono riusciti a dare il meglio di se. E ciò nonostante la dura salita, da ripetere tre volte, sul bel percorso tra centro storico e lungomare. E il primo a tagliare il traguardo, tra i marsalesi, è stato Enzo Lombardo (uno di quelli che ha centrato il suo nuovo record personale), che con il tempo di 1 ora, 27 minuti e 10 secondi è stato 67esimo assoluto, su circa 700 iscritti, e 13esimo nella sua categoria d’età (SM50). A seguire, hanno poi concluso la gara Fabio Sammartano (1:29:44), Antonio Pizzo (1:33:30), Antonino Genna (con 1:34:04 anche per lui nuovo record personale). E poi, ancora Giuseppe Cerame (1:35:28), anche per lui nuovo “pb”, Giuseppe Mezzapelle (1:35:30), e Monica Terzo, che con una superba prestazione non solo ha ottenuto il suo miglior tempo sui 21.097 metri (1:36:48), ma anche il podio (terzo posto) nella sua categoria d’età: SF45. A completare, inoltre, il successo della squadra biancazzurra, che anche quest’anno punta a rimanere ai vertici della classifica regionale della specialità, sono stati nell’ordine Pietro Sciacca, Ignazio Cammarata, Agostino Impiccichè, Salvatore Villa, Giuseppe Valenza, Matilde Rallo (quarta nella SF50), i fratelli Demetrio e Sebastiano Rizzo, Gianpaolo Graffeo, Mimmo Ottoveggio, Santino Nizza, Corrado Galeota, Giuseppe Genna (cl. ’67), Filippo Struppa, Elvira Clemente, Francesco Petruzzellis, Alfredo Di Napoli, Isabella Valenti, Salvatore Panico, Leonardo Mazzara, Ciccio Laudicina e Roberto Angileri. Tra questi, ad ottenere il nuovo primato personale sono stati Salvatore Villa (1:41:34), Demetrio Rizzo (1:46:45), Sebastiano Rizzo (1:48:04), Gianpaolo Graffeo (1:48:25), Mimmo Ottoveggio (1:50:45), Santino Nizza (1:52:14) ed Elvira Clemente (2:05:59). Ma in contemporanea la Polisportiva Marsala Doc è stata presente anche lontano dalla Sicilia. E cioè a Fano. Nel centro marchigiano, infatti, a correre la maratona, ancora con brillanti risultati, sono stati Michele D’Errico e Damiano Ardagna. Quest’ultimo è stato ottavo assoluto, e secondo di categoria (SM50), con il tempo di 3 ore, 20 minuti e 8 secondi, mentre D’Errico si è piazzato all’11esimo posto assoluto, con gradino più alto del podio nella SM65, tagliando il traguardo in 3:22:34.
